UNREFINED CELTIC SEA SALT
Celtic sea salt is harvested from the salt marshes of the Guérande peninsula in France. There, salt workers guide seawater from one marsh to another. When the seawater evaporates, a layer of salt crystals forms on the surface. This top layer is carefully skimmed off by hand. It is traditionally done by women, as their hands are believed to be finer and better suited for handling the delicate salt layer.
Celtic sea salt is neither washed, dried, nor refined, allowing all the natural minerals to be preserved. Some believe that, because of this, Celtic sea salt is the healthiest salt in the world. It is said to support the immune system, help maintain low blood pressure due to its magnesium content, and improve the absorption of vitamins. Others argue that the mineral content is too low for these effects to be significant.
